Marcia Harris

With geometric elements insinuating upon pastoral landscape (or vice versa!), Marcia Harris's newest paintings draw attention to the symbiotic relationship between man and nature. The 13 paintings in the series entitled "The In Between" are technically pristine; renderings of familiar land elements evoking a hazy quiet. The viewer is lulled by soft line and colour palette, and yet architectural interruptions are rising from the land, just beyond view.

Calgary based painter Marcia Harris was born in Gaspe, Quebec. She graduated in 2004 with distinction from University of British Columbia Okanagan Fine Arts, majoring in painting, with a minor in drawing, screen-printing and photography. Harris has shown extensively across Western Canada, with major exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Calgary, The Kelowna Art Gallery and a selection of fine art galleries in Alberta and BC. Her work can be found in the permanent collection of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and private and corporate collections across Canada, the United States, and Europe.
