Linda Lindemann

I attempt to express ideas about the beauty and simplicity of the Canadian landscape.  Much focus is spent on the agricultural aspect of my surroundings and upbringing.  Sheds and barns painted in traditional red reflect the sunlight in a surreal and unique way.

Minimizing detail allows the shape, colour, and warmth to be the focus.  Years spent in fields and on local roads gave me a desire to bring forth the mental images retained from those experiences.  Trees, bushes, crops are often ‘soft’ as a blurred memory, while other objects are sometimes punctuated.  A play on light and dark is a constant obsession.

Continued intrigue with rural imagery, the idea of repetition (swaths) and experiments with water, trees and sky, keep my work moving forward.
